When you start an exercise program, you have to train your mind. It is the most power tool to have when you want to loose weight and get fit. With out this you will struggle to accomplish what you started. I can show you how to do this.

Anyone who has read my articles or personally knows me has learned that I have lost a lot of weight through dieting and exercise. In fact I work so hard at it that my wife sent me these jokes to lighten my mood up. Some times a person just gets tired and looks for excuses to not work out. That is why this topic for this article is training your mind and your will. I’ll get to that shortly. But first I want you to enjoy these jokes my wife sent me and then when your brain is warmed up we will start on the serious topic. Enjoy:

It is well documented that for every minute that you exercise, you add one minute to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $5000 per month.

My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was 60. Now she’s 97 years old and we don’t know where the hell she is.

The only reason I would take up exercising is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven’t lost a pound. Apparently you have to show up.

I have to exercise early in the morning before my brain figures out what I’m doing.

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

I have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them.

The advantage of exercising every day is that you die healthier.

If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.

And last but not least: I don’t exercise because it makes the ice jump right out of my glass.

Did you enjoy those? Well the truth of the matter is that everyday you wake up and have to struggle with the thought of going were you go to exercise and work your but off. I can’t even count the times were I said to myself, Ah I’ll just skip it today and do it tomorrow. Then tomorrow never comes. I have done that for many years until the last couple. That is when I discovered the program I use now. I learned that I had to train my mind and will first. First I told my self day after day that if I wanted to loose weight I have to do this because no one else is going to do this for you. I always remember the catch phrase “Just Do It.” I still after a year and a half have to tell myself, sometimes everyday to “Just Do It.” The bottom line is if you can not train your mind to loose weight or even have a healthier lifestyle then you are not going to accomplish what you set out to do. Look at professional athletes they have to work there craft every day one way or the other if they did not have their minds trained they definitely would not be were they are now. I am a huge football fan and I remember a story, when I was a teenager, about Walter Payton. The very morning after the probowl at 6 am in the morning when everyone else was sleeping, this person was awaken to hearing noise in the court yard of the hotel. When he looked out the window there he say Walter Payton doing sprints and running stairs. He proceeded to go talk to him and asked what he was doing and he replied I’m getting ready for next season. In those days that was simply amazing and no wonder he was one of the greats all time and one of the reasons football is now year around. If you want success this is the kind of attitude you need to have. Once you train your mind to think like that you to will be successful in loosing weight and I swear it will come easier and easier as you go and when you start seeing results you will have a hard time coming up with excuses not to exercise.

Until the new millennium obesity was typically an adult problem, now regrettably obesity is widespread amongst children and adolescents throughout the world. Each and every year the numbers of new cases being reported are increasing, giving rise to a new health fear.

The term obesity refers to an excess amount of body fat. However the guidelines for measuring obesity in children are difficult since no real tables exist. On average a child’s bodyweight 20% higher than the average for his height is considered obese.

Obesity in a child can cause serious health problems, both physically and emotionally. Unfortunately modern living is the main culprit here, an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise contributes to this growing obesity epidemic.

The good news however is that we can control this and help reverse the trend. By guiding our children towards a healthier and more nutritious diet plus introducing an enjoyable exercise program.

Once a child’s weight increases above their friends they can become concerned about their appearance and have trouble forming friendships at school. This is when parents must be highly supportive; never criticize your child’s weight. Encouragement and unconditional love is the best rule for parents to follow.

The first steps to take are for parents to accept that their lifestyle may be partly responsible. Children will follow an adult’s example, so before asking of your child to change, you must take the lead. The families eating habits is the best place to start.

Eat all meals at the table; try to stop your children snacking in front of the TV. Introduce new foods one at a time; do not ban all ‘fast food’ restaurants. An occasional outing for ‘junk food’ will do them or you no harm.

Apart from dietary changes, the biggest alteration to their lifestyle will be tearing them away from the TV, computer & video games to a new exercise regime. Now this does not have to be as hard as that sounds. Allow the internet, TV and anything else for a total of one hour a day.

Unfortunately the old-style physical education is hard to find at school these days. This puts the emphasis on the parents to discover, by talking with their child, what kind of sports they would like to participate in. Summer evenings and at weekends is a good time for the whole family to get out and about. Visit the parks or just jog around the neighborhood.

Results will take time; aim to reduce weight by just two pounds a month. Gradually the whole family will benefit from the introduction of a healthier lifestyle.

Ask yourself these two questions, as you get older do you honestly think that you are likely to get sicker, have different health problems and more of them? Or will you choose a healthier lifestyle?

Since we now live in the information age, if we really want to be healthier, then it is possible to improve with age, rather than giving in to the downhill spiral of deterioration and ill health. Past research has proven it to be so.<br />

You may have heard the saying, “An ounce of prevention is cheaper than the pound of cure.” You might be interested to know that should you continue to do things that are not healthy, you will be known as being “bad”. Things such as, eating poorly, smoking, refusing to be more active, this is commonly known as “Lifestyle Suicide.”

There is a much better way. Here are some of the more significant areas that involve lifestyle and our ability to make choices. Keep in mind that by choosing wisely you are focusing on a healthier lifestyle choice and will improve your health to its greatest potential ever.

Cigarettes: nicotine is a very highly addictive substance. Research shows that the average smoker makes seven attempts to quit. Ex-smokers say that it was all worth the effort although the cravings do still last for years. Quitting smoking is the most effective choice a person can make in improving their health. So if you have decided that you want to quit, then do it now!

Food is all about what you eat and how. There is a serious problem with obesity in our country. Portion size must be taken into consideration, but you must also take care to eat the right foods and exercise in order to receive the full benefit of a healthier lifestyle.

Deciding to lose the extra 15 or 25 pounds is noble, but dieting alone will just not work. The key to achieving your goal is activity. Avoiding or even eliminating completely, any refined carbohydrates such as white sugar and flour, along with regular yet moderately exerting activities will eliminate the necessity of measuring or weighing of food, and will almost guarantee that you lose one to two pounds a week.

Avoid foods with trans fats, like margarine, white sugar, flour and prepared foods. Instead eat more raw and unprocessed foods. Don’t miss out on breakfast and never eat late at night.

Eat foods rich in anti-oxidants like darker colored fruits and vegetables, purple grape juice, green tea, red wine and dark chocolate. Try to drink four or more glasses of water daily.

If you decide to start exercising remember to Keep It Simple. Start off by walking for 15 minutes three times a week; this should cause you to get a bit of glow. Gradually increase your walk, causing a bit more of a glow. Although there is no upper or set limit on how long you choose to walk for, the health benefits do get greater after 60 minutes of activity.

If you do decide to start taking better care of yourself and live a healthier lifestyle, it is recommended that you get some advice from professionals who will take care of you in a holistic way, as opposed to just treating the symptoms. Prevention of health problems before they even become symptomatic is the best approach.

Everyone can benefit from exercise and good nutrition. Most women know that the right combination of exercise and nutrition can result in fat loss, increased muscle strength and improved energy. Regardless of at what age a woman becomes physically active and aware of good nutrition, the rewards of a comprehensive fitness program are tremendous and extremely beneficial. Once you decide that you actually wish to change to a healthier lifestyle, a fitness program can be a great way to get into shape. With so many options available, how do you decide which fitness program is best for you?

Exercise equipment can be costly and take up a lot of space, especially when it goes unused. A gym or fitness center membership can be expensive and inconvenient; most women are busy enough without taking the time to travel to a health club. Luckily, there is no better place than in the privacy of your own home for reaching your fitness goals.

With so many options and varieties of home fitness videos, books, and exercise equipment, the problem arises of how to choose the right home fitness program. You do not want to spend thousands of dollars on some fitness gadget that will gather dust or make a new clothes hanger. Exercise videos can be boring. And with a woman’s busy schedule, who has the time or energy to read all of those books?

Exercising at home is perfect because it can easily fit into your schedule and your budget. Anyone considering an exercise program should contact her physician to be sure the fitness program is compatible with her health. In addition, it is important to include these essential components for an effective fitness program: strength training, flexibility, cardiovascular training, and balance.

Strength training can increase muscle strength, coordination, and metabolic rate. This type of exercise uses free weights or resistance bands to help target and tone your muscles. Strength training has also been shown to improve bone health and reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

Flexibility training or stretching exercises can increase the physical performance of your body and general health. This component of a complete fitness program is often overlooked. Flexibility training can help to reduce your risk of injury, improve your posture, and even reduce post exercise muscle soreness.

Cardiovascular exercise is integral for healthier heart and lungs. Although some place more emphasis on weight training for muscle development, it is important to remember that the heart is a muscle too and needs to be conditioned through regular aerobic activity.

Balance is crucial to our bodies, and becomes more important as we age. As we become older, our balance can become compromised. Improving coordination and balance through exercise can prevent falls and allow our bodies to function more efficiently.

Although it is a great start to having more energy and improving the quality of your life, a good exercise program alone is not enough to complete your change to a healthier lifestyle. We have all heard the adage, “you are what you eat.” Every woman needs to be aware of food and nutrition, key factors to be incorporated with comprehensive exercises for a complete fitness program. Do not eliminate food groups from your diet, rather become aware of healthy eating and good nutrition to complement your exercises.

There is a program that will have you fit, healthy, and bursting with energy. A unique home fitness program designed especially for women is available. Sisters in Sneakers includes all of the essential components of a complete home fitness program for exercises and nutrition.

When you exercise at home, the fitness program you choose must keep you motivated and interested. Sisters in Sneakers proves exercise does not have to be boring. Sisters in Sneakers allows you to vary your exercise routine to keep you out of an exercise rut and on your toes while conditioning different muscle groups.

Even with the best women’s home fitness program, sometimes the going gets tough when you are all alone. Sisters in Sneakers gives you the opportunity to connect with a fitness partner for friendship and to offer encouragement to each other, increasing the chance that you will succeed to achieve your fitness goals.

Even if your goal is losing weight, it is important to remember that the changes you are making are not permanent. In order to develop and maintain a healthy weight, you must adopt a healthy lifestyle. This is crucial to your success. What’s the point of losing all that weight and then going back to your old ways, meaning you will gain the weight back faster than you took it off?

This attitude is the difference between success and failure. You’ve probably seen all those commercials for diet products showing a girl in a bikini a hundred pounds lighter than in her before picture. Pay close attention to the fine print. There’s usually a star next to the amount of weight she lost that leads you to a footnote that says the results aren’t typical. Another line you’re likely to find says that the product works only when combined with exercise and a healthy diet. There’s no magic pill that’s going to make all your weight vanish. The attitude that you are changing your life for the better is the first way to create a healthier lifestyle.

Now that you’re attitude’s been readjusted, what else is there? Making movement a part of your life, and not reserving it for the workout room is another great way to be a healthy person. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park your car farther away from your office than you used to. Get off the bus one stop early. Get moving. Many people who experience quick weight loss in the beginning but plateau fail to continuously create ways to keep themselves moving. Don’t be one of them.

Now that you’re on the move, what now? Tame your appetite. Many people think because they’re working out they can eat whatever they want. Wrong! Exercise will make you feel hungrier, meaning you will need to find a way to keep your appetite at bay. You want to burn more calories, meaning that you have to take in less. Try a natural appetite suppressant like hoodia to keep cravings away during inappropriate times.
